Basic Views on Embedded System
In day – to –day world, many products have microprocessor “Embedded” in them to make them “smart”. i.e, all Electronic, Electrical and even mechanical products are driven by microprocessor and its software. So, the field “Embedded System” – got its name.
Now, let us see two types of definitions for embedded system:
A “Embedded system” is - “A Software embedded within a Hardware” (or)
A good definition of Embedded System is that: “Any computer system hidden inside a product, other than a computer System”
The Embedded system inverts the older one to a novel one and gives a modern look. In present situation, the world becomes meaningless without Embedded system.
Mostly, all applications work under this Embedded principle. For sample, Digital Watches, Laser Printers, Automobile Engines, 95% of domestic appliances etc.,
Often, for a perfect Embedded system, we need:
· a standard serial port
· a network interface
· hardware to interact with sensors and activators
-- All, along with a controller.
Software: The software may be in assembly, basic, C or C++.
So, a good specialist in any of these 4 languages and some knowledge in electronics may make a person – a Embedded Architect.
